Moreno is in the process of finalizing a fight with Kai Kara-France at UFC 277 on July 30 for the interim flyweight title, MMA reporter Ariel Helwani reports.
ANALYSIS
Although the fight isn't official just yet, Moreno is poised to return to the Octagon for the first time since January, when he lost to Deiveson Figueiredo at UFC 270. Hoping to regain flyweight belt
FlyweightUFC
March 22, 2022
Moreno will take on Deiveson Figueiredo at the UFC Flyweight Championship that has been targeted for July, MMA reporter Ariel Helwani reports.
ANALYSIS
After an epic duel in the trilogy back in January, this was something that was expected to happen. Moreno and Figueiredo will be the first fighters to face each other four times in UFC history. The first was a majority draw followed by a submission win for Moreno and then Figueiredo prevailed by unanimous decision in January.
Drops title in epic clash
FlyweightUFC
January 22, 2022
Moreno lost the UFC Flyweight Championship on Saturday, falling to Deiveson Figueiredo via unanimous decision (47-48, 47-48, 47-48) at UFC 270 in Anaheim.
ANALYSIS
After another epic 25 minutes, there's still an argument about who the better man is. There's a case to be made that Moreno looked sharper than ever in this fight, and there's also a case to be made that the judges got the decision correct. It was that close. Moreno attempted to wear Figueiredo down with volume, and for the most part, it worked. He attempted nearly 100 more total strikes than his opponent (260-178) and out-landed Deiveson by a 105-86 count. The issues for Moreno came at the very end of Round 3 and midway through Round 5. He was knocked down on both occasions, with the one in Round 3 being particularly significant because it seemed to be a round in the bank for Brandon that all three judges ended up giving to Figueiredo. Fighters who lose their belt in their first title defense almost never get an immediate rematch, but Moreno and Figueiredo are seemingly made for each other. They have fought three times and each man has won once, with the third fight being a draw. Moreno, who just turned 28 years of age this past December, will be back and better than ever in short order. In the meantime, he'll take home a $50,000 bonus after this bout was awarded Fight of the Night honors.
Fighting Figueiredo in January
FlyweightUFC
October 11, 2021
The fight between Moreno and Deiveson Figueiredo has been moved to UFC 270 on Jan. 22, according to Danny Segura of MMAJunkie.com.
ANALYSIS
The third bout between these two elite fighters was expected to happen in December this year, but now they will have to wait until January next year to cap their trilogy. The move comes after the addition of Masvidal-Edwards to UFC 269. As of early-October, oddsmakers list Moreno as approximately a (-170) betting favorite to retain his belt.
Finishing trilogy versus Figueiredo

September 15, 2021
Moreno (foot) will defend his UFC Flyweight Championship against Deiveson Figueiredo at UFC 269, Brett Okamoto of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
This will be the third time in a year the two have fought. The first bout ended in a majority draw that saw Figueiredo retain the title belt for six more months before Moreno bested him with a rear-naked choke at UFC 263 in June. Now it's Moreno's turn to defend the title as the two elite flyweights finish their trilogy.
New flyweight champ picks up injury
FlyweightUFC
June 16, 2021
Moreno is facing a 180-day medical suspension, MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Moreno was able to submit Deiveson Figueiredo to become the new UFC Flyweight Champion last weekend, but he will need clearance from a doctor for a right foot injury or be unable to fight again until mid-December. Moreno suffered shoulder and arm injuries after his previous fight against Deiveson Figueiredo back in December that ended in a draw.
