Announces arrival in Vegas
Muhammad defeated Stephen Thompson via unanimous decision (30-25, 30-26, 30-26) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
It's by far the biggest victory of Muhammad's career, and it came in dominating fashion. Although he entered as a hefty (+175) betting underdog, Muhammad smothered Wonderboy from the very start and never let up. He recognized his advantage in the grappling department and fired off nine takedown attempts, landing seven of them. Those seven successful tries led to a whopping 11:57 worth of control time, which, in turn, led to a 171-51 edge in total strikes landed. It was a masterful effort from Belal, who executed his game plan to perfection. Muhammad has won six fights in a row and is unbeaten in his past seven (6-0, 1NC) bouts. The 33-year-old will need to continue this strong run in order to make an impact at 170 pounds, but Muhammad has proven to be up to the task thus far.

Set to face Stephen Thompson
Muhammad will fake on Stephen Thompson in a welterweight fight in Las Vegas on Dec. 18, MMAJunkie.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The matchup pits two of the best in the division against each other. Muhammad has been in much better recent form, going undefeated with one no-contest in his last six fights. He most recently earned a unanimous decision win against Demian Maia in June. Thompson, on the other hand, has lost three of his last five fights, dropping a unanimous decision against Gilbert Burns in July in his most recent trip to the Octagon.

Cruises past Demian Maia
Muhammad defeated Demian Maia via unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28) at UFC 263 on Saturday in Glendale, Arizona.
ANALYSIS
Maia is a tricky guy to fight, and Muhammad clearly won this bout, but this performance won't earn him many new fans. Of course, Muhammad could likely care less. The most impressive aspect of this fight was Belal's takedown defense. He defended 20-of-21 Maia attempts and was the far more effective fighter whenever the two men ended up in a striking exchange at distance. It was a nice bounce-back effort from Muhammad on the heels of the vicious, accidental eye poke he suffered in a main event spot against Leon Edwards this past March. Muhammad is undefeated in his past six bouts (5-0, 1NC) and hasn't lost in about two and a half years. Consider him a legitimate contender.
