Shamil Abdurakhimov

Third straight knockout loss
March 19, 2022
Abdurakhimov lost to Sergei Pavlovich via TKO (punches) at 4:03 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in London.
A member of the UFC roster since April 2015, there appears to be a strong likelihood this is the end of the line for Abdurakhimov. For starters, he will be turning 41 years of age this coming September. Of more immediate concern is the fact he has now lost three fights in a row, all via knockout. Pavlovich has ridiculous fight-ending power, and Shamil had little chance in a back-and-forth stand-up battle, which this fight quickly turned into. If this indeed the end of the line, Abdurakhimov closes his UFC run with a .500 record over the course of ten bouts with the company.

Hammered by Chris Daukaus
September 25, 2021
Abdurakhimov lost to Chris Daukaus via TKO (strikes) at 1:23 of Round 2 at UFC 266 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
Abdurakhimov had been on a decent run of late, winning three of his previous four fights, but he was no match for the much younger and more powerful Daukaus. He landed a handful of counter strikes in the early going, but things got worse and worse for him as the fight progressed. Abdurakhimov was nearly finished in the closing stages of Round 1, and it got no better for him in the early portion of Round 2. The incompetence of referee Mark Smith didn't help matters, as Abdurakhimov ended up eating several more additional shots than were necessary. Abdurakhimov turned 40 years of age earlier this month. He still has some gas left in the tank, but his previous three defeats -- Daukaus, Curtis Blaydes, Derrick Lewis -- is a clear indication the UFC has to be careful with who they match him up against moving forward.
Daukaus fight rebooked

Abdurakhimov will take on Chris Daukaus in a heavyweight bout at UFC 266 on September 25, Marcel Dorff of MMADNA reports.
Abdurakhimov was supposed to fight this upcoming Saturday, but the bout was scratched for undisclosed reasons. The UFC was able to rebook these two opponents and put them on the UFC 266 card, however. This will be a long awaited return for Abdurakhimov, who will be making his first appearance in the Octagon since September of 2019.
