Lupita Godinez

Cruises to UFC 274 victory
May 7, 2022
Godinez defeated Ariane Carnelossi via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-26, 30-26) at UFC 274 on Saturday in Phoenix.
It was a laughably easy victory for Godinez in a fight in which she entered as a -195 favorite. Clearly one of the best wrestlers in the 115-pound female division, Godinez landed all eight of her takedown attempts, good for 13:26 worth of control time. She dominated Carnelossi at the point of attack and used her upper-body strength to keep her opponent pinned to the mat for nearly the entire bout. "Loopy" has been highly inconsistent over the course of her brief UFC run, posting just a 3-2 record with the company, but she has considerably more talented than that mark would lead you to believe. Keep an eye on her.

Picks up short notice victory
November 20, 2021
Godinez defeated Loma Lookboonmee via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
The queen of the quick turnaround, Godinez looked strong while stepping in for Cheyanne Buys on short notice. Loopy has displayed some excellent wrestling skills during his brief time with the UFC, and tonight was no exception. She landed 5-of-12 takedowns good for 7:32 worth of control time, and over the course of her first four UFC bouts, Godinez has now landed 15 successful attempts. Loopy still needs to establish a more consistent presence in terms of her stand-up game, but the grappling is clearly legitimate and can carry her in fights in which she is struggling to create offense.
Will take on Lookboonmee Nov. 20

Godinez will be filling in for Cheyanne Buys, who had to withdraw due to an undisclosed reason. Godinez is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Luana Carolina back in October, which came just seven days after her submission win over Silvana Gomez Juarez.
Fails in quest to make history
October 16, 2021
Godinez lost to Luana Carolina via unanimous decision (28-29, 28-29, 28-29) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
Hoping to make UFC history, Godinez was fighting for the second time in just seven days. Coming off a first-round submission win over Silvana Gomez Juarez, Godinez agreed to move up a weight class in order to face Carolina here. She started out well, controlling the pace of the fight in Round 1, but "Loopy" understandably slowed as the fight progressed, and that allowed Carolina to up her output on the feet and ultimately take the decision. It was a gutsy performance from Godinez and one that should earn her plenty of respect among the UFC brass despite the setback.
