No-shows loss in Vegas
November 20, 2021
Lutz lost to Pat Sabatini via unanimous decision (26-30, 27-30, 27-30) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
It's virtually impossible to imagine a 15-minute fight in which Lutz could have looked worse. To say he wasn't the least bit competitive would be the understatement of the century. Lutz was ran out of the building by Sabatini despite entering as a -130 favorite. It seemed as if every single time Lutz attempted an offensive thrust, Sabatini would push forward and take him down and keep him there for an extended period of time. All told, Lutz landed just 36 strikes over the course of the bout, compared to 111 from his opponent. The 27-year-old entered with a little runway because he took a unanimous decision from Kevin Aguilar in his company debut this past May, but he still needs a rebound performance his next time out after this stinker.

Draws Vannata in November
August 25, 2021
Lutz is in line to face Lando Vannata at the UFC event scheduled to take place Nov. 13, Damon Martin of MMAFighting.com reports.
Lutz earned a pair of decision victories on Dana White's Contender Series before winning his official UFC debut at featherweight against Kevin Aguilar in May. He's a high-volume striker, landing 5.09 significant strikes per minute across those three bouts. He'll have to keep pace with Vannata, another high-volume striker who has amassed 4.67 significant strikes per minute over a much larger sample size. Lutz has a one-inch reach advantage, while Vannata is listed as an inch taller.
Decision win in UFC debut
May 15, 2021
Lutz defeated Kevin Aguilar via unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28) at UFC 262 on Saturday in Houston.
Making his official UFC debut, Lutz, who twice appeared on Dana White's Contender Series, was dominant for ten minutes before his gas tank began to evaporate. Lutz was unquestionably the better man when both competitors were at full strength. He landed the cleaner, harder strikes on the feet in addition to scoring a couple easy takedowns, but struggled in Round 3 when Aguilar turned up the pace with his back against the wall. Overall, it was a strong showing for Lutz, although the 26-year-old Baltimore native can clearly improve in multiple areas.
UFC debut set for May 15
March 31, 2021
Lutz will take on Kevin Aguilar at UFC 262 on May 15, Aaron Bronsteter of TSN.ca reports.
Lutz earned a contract with the UFC after making two appearances on Dana White's Contender Series, earning a victory on both occasions. The 26-year-old still has plenty of opportunity to grow as a professional, and he'll get a chance to start his career at the UFC level on the right foot against an opponent, Aguilar, who's coming off a medical suspension.
