Blake was drafted 109th overall by the Hurricanes at the 2021 NHL Draft on Saturday.
The son of former 40-goal scorer and long-time Islander and Leaf Jason Blake, Jackson spent this past season splitting time between USHL Chicago, where he was good (17 points in 25 games), and Eden Prairie High School in Minnesota, where he was unstoppable (20 goals, 57 points in 19 games). Blake possesses a highly intriguing skill set, albeit one that will take time to fully develop. He's an above-average offensive player and his work ethic is exceptional. He's undersized (5-foot-10) like his dad and lacks physical strength, but Blake, who won't turn 18 years of age until early August, was one of the youngest players eligible for the draft. He is committed to the University of North Dakota.
