Gale is listed as the third-string quarterback ahead of Saturday's game against the Stampeders.

Gale was promoted back to the active roster after joining the team's practice roster Tuesday. He's expected to remain in that position for the remainder of the season, so it's unlikely he'll make a fantasy impact this year.

Gale was added to the Lions' practice roster Tuesday.

With starting quarterback Travis Lulay (knee) out for the season, the Lions have made a move to get a look at another potential backup option under center besides Alex Ross. Gale was under center during nine games last season for the Roughriders, going 79-for-137 for 950 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions.

Gale was cut by the Stampeders on Saturday, Farhan Lalji of TSN reports.

Gale, who was battling for the backup QB job behind standout Bo Levi Mitchell, was cut Saturday. The Stamps marked the third team he's been on in his four seasons and it remains to be seen what his market value is now that he's a free agent. Last season, with the Roughriders, he completed 79 of his 137 attempts for 950 yards, two TDs and three interceptions.

Gale signed a two-year contract with the Stampeders, reports.

Gale has bounced around with three organizations in his four CFL seasons, and he made his first three career starts last season in Saskatchewan when Darian Durant went down to injury. He will battle for the backup job behind standout Bo Levi Mitchell.

Gale will start at quarterback in Saturday's game against the Lions.

Gale will get the nod in place of Darian Durant, who will be rested in the Roughriders' season finale. While Gale will start, it remains to be seen exactly how much he will play, as fellow quarterback G.J. Kinne is expected to see action as well.

Gale completed seven of nine passes for 52 yards with no touchdowns and one interception in Saturday's 20-18 victory over the Ti-Cats. He also gained 12 yards on six rushes.

The veteran backup was pressed into duty after Darian Durant was forced from the game with an undisclosed injury. Gale was unspectacular but highly efficient, completing five passes and amassing his 12 rushing yards on a game-winning drive that culminated in a Tyler Crapigna field goal. Gale could be in line for a start versus the Argos in Week 16 following their bye if Durant is unable to return.

Gale is listed as the backup quarterback on the depth chart for Thursday's game against Calgary.

Gale struggled on Friday, when he completed 23-of-41 passes for one interception. He will return to a back up role due to the return of regular starting quarterback Darian Durant, who was out with a severe ankle sprain.

Gale completed 23 of 41 passes for 211 yards and an interception in Friday's 41-3 loss to the Alouettes.

To say the Roughriders were missing Darian Durant (leg) on Friday would be a massive understatement. Gale has attempted just 21 passes over the previous three seasons, split between the Argos and Tiger-Cats, and while he was able to guide Saskatchewan to a win last week his limitations were on full display in this one. Durant could be healthy enough to play next week however, returning Gale to the bench.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Gale will make his second consecuative start for Saskatchewan in Friday's matchup with Montreal, Lee Jones of TSN reports.

Gale made his first start of the season last week, filling in for the injured Darian Durant (ankle). In that game, Gale threw for 354 yards and a touchdown on 21 for 36 passing, an impressive first start. He'll look to build off that performance this week.

Gale completed 21 of 36 passes for 354 yards and a touchdown in Friday's 30-29 victory over the Redblacks. He also gained 17 yards on his five rushes.

The Abilene Christian product received the spot start in place of Darian Durant (ankle) and was able to build on his impressive work during emergency duty in Week 4. Gale was able to total 247 yards in just under three full quarters in that contest, and was highly efficient while doing battle against fellow backup Brock Jensen in Week 5. The 26-year-old demonstrated outstanding chemistry with Naaman Roosevelt in particular-- finding him for an 89-yard touchdown and 182 yards overall-- while also hitting five other receivers on the night. Gale may well see another opportunity to continue impressing against the Als in Week 6.

Gale will be the starting quarterback for Friday's game with the Redblacks, Murray McCormick of the Regina Leader-Post reports.

Gale will get a chance to start while the Roughriders' regular starting quarterback -- Darian Durant -- recovers from an ankle sprain sustained during last Saturday's game. After Gale stepped in for the injured Durant midway through Saturday's loss to the Lions, he completed 17-of-30 passes for 247 yards.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Gale continues to work with the first-team offense in practice, Murray McCormick of the Regina-Leader Post reports.

Although official reports won't come for a day or two, Gale will likely be the starter for Friday's matchup with Ottawa, barring an incredible comeback by Darian Durant, who suffered an ankle sprain in last Saturday's game. Gale completed 17 of 30 passes for 247 yards in Saturday's loss to the Lions, filling in for Durant midway through the game.

Gale completed 17 of 30 passes for 247 yards and a touchdown with no interceptions in Saturday's 40-27 loss to the Lions. He also gained 15 yards on three rushes.

The Abilene Christian product turned in an admirable performance after starter Darian Durant was sidelined with an ankle injury. Gale surpassed his entire CFL career yardage total with Saturday's effort, and kept the Roughriders competitive until late in the fourth quarter. Although subsequent X-rays on Durant's ankle reportedly showed no serious injury, Gale could conceivably get the starting call in a Week 5 showdown versus the Redblacks.
