2022 Tournament PreviewThe Aztecs won nine of their last 10 regular-season games before a trip to the MWC Final to earn their second consecutive NCAA Tournament bid. While the tempo has picked up a bit from the last couple seasons, the identity of coach Brian Dutcher's squad is still defense. After allowing a Mountain West-low 57.7 points per game, the Aztecs rank second in the nation in defensive efficiency (per KenPom) and limit opposing teams to the fifth-lowest effective field-goal percentage. The Aztecs also boast the conference's Defensive Player of the Year in Nathan Mensah (7.3 ppg, 7.1 rpg, 2.2 bpg), a senior with 91 career starts. While the Aztecs have just one double-digit scorer, it's a game-changing player in senior California transfer Matt Bradley (17.0 ppg, 5.4 rpg), who averaged 26.7 points in the last three regular-season games. SDSU has five Quad 1 wins and is undefeated in Quads 2-4. The defense will give teams fits, but whether the Aztecs have enough offense is the question.
