2022 Tournament PreviewProvidence was a surprise winner of the Big East regular season but got bounced in the conference tournament semifinals. Critics point to their penchant for close games -- the Friars are the luckiest team in the nation, according to KenPom -- and a 33 NET rating, but Providence still has five Quad 1 wins, as well as a 11-0 record in Quad 3-4 games. The return of 6-10 center Nate Watson (13.8 ppg, 5.4 rpg) for a fifth year boosted the interior, while second-leading scorer Al Durham (13.4 ppg) gets by on volume as he shoots just 34.3 percent from the field. Providence as a trio of outside shooters in Jared Bynum (12.7 ppg, 4.2 apg, 41.7% 3pt) , Noah Horchler (9.6 ppg, 8.3 rpg, 40.0% 3pt) and A.J. Reeves (10.0 ppg, 37.7% 3pt), and a rotation of mostly upperclassmen gives the Friars a No. 7 rating in KenPom's experience metric. An extended run is not out of the question, as long as the Friars' luck doesn't run out first.
