2022 Tournament PreviewMurray State was nationally ranked well before sweeping the Ohio Valley regular season and then holding off potential bid-stealer Morehead State in the OVC tournament final. Long gone are the days of Ja Morant, but coach Matt McMahon has the Racers looking far better in the metrics than in Morant's 2018-19 campaign. The Racers combined to go 5-1 in Quadrants 1 and 2, headlined by a non-conference victory against Memphis. Leading the way on both ends is 6-10 junior center KJ Williams (18.2 ppg, 8.6 rpg), who helps the Racers rank 11th nationally in offensive rebounding rate. Adding to the offense are Tevin Brown (16.9 ppg), who scored 26 and 23 points in two conference tourney games, and Justice Hill (13.2 ppg). This is a top-40 team in both offensive and defensive efficiency, per KenPom, as well as one of the hottest in the country.
