2022 Tournament PreviewLSU enters the NCAA Tournament after abruptly losing coach Will Wade, who was fired the day before the Tigers received a No. 6 seed for alleged recruiting violations. Assistant Kevin Nickelberry is interim head coach, taking over a team that started 12-0 only to go 10-11 the rest of the way. The Tigers win with the defense, leading the nation in steals rate and ranking fourth in perimeter defense for a No. 5 rating in defensive efficiency, per KenPom. The offense is slightly underwhelming, as the Tigers rank 201st in effective field-goal percentage, including just 31.9 percent from three-point range (268th). But LSU has four double-digit scorers, led by Cincinnati transfer Tari Eason (16.9 ppg, 2.0 spg), who served as sixth-man most of the year. Victories against Kentucky and Alabama show LSU can win the big game, and the Tigers have the talent for a Sweet 16 appearance, but there's no telling how the coaching turmoil will impact the team.
