2022 Tournament PreviewThe Bulldogs earned a No. 1 seed for the fourth time in the last five NCAA Tournaments. All three of Gonzaga's losses came against Quad 1 opponents, and the Bulldogs have lost once since Dec. 4. Multiple key players return from last year's national title runner-up team, including point guard Andrew Nembhard (11.7 ppg, 5.7 apg) and 6-10 forward Drew Timme (17.5 ppg, 6.3 rpg). The top-rated recruit in the country, 7-foot Chet Holmgren (14.2 ppg, 9.6 rpg, 3.6 bpg), joins Timme to form a frontcourt that helps Gonzaga rank second in the nation in two-point field-goal percentage and first in two-point field-goal percentage allowed. Holmgren can also shoot the three (41.2 percent), one of four Zags with at least 40 treys, which also includes Rasir Bolton and his team-high 46.7 percent from distance. Gonzaga is top 10 in both offensive and defensive efficiency, per KenPom, and plays at the fourth-highest adjusted tempo (per KenPom) with the nation's shortest average possession time. Advancing to the NCAA title game for the third time since 2017 is well within reach.
