Returning for final season
McCaffery announced Thursday that he will return to Iowa for his sixth season, Mike Hlas of The Gazette of Cedar Rapids reports.
ANALYSIS
McCaffery will exercise the final season of collegiate eligibility provided to him by the NCAA due to the COVID-19 pandemic plagued 2019-20 season. The 23-year-old guard has played in 134 games dating back to his redshirt freshman campaign in 2017-18 and started 62 games for Iowa from 2019-21. McCaffery reverted to a smaller role off the bench in 2021-22, however, averaging 2.5 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 16.9 minutes over 34 games with four starts.
