Major League Soccer (MLS)

Chris McCann    M    Atlanta United
McCann (hamstring) has recovered from injury and could feature in Sunday's match against Toronto, reports Doug Roberson of the AJC.

Fantasy Analysis

Just ahead of the playoffs, this is welcome news for Atlanta. While McCann only has eight starts this season, he carved out a consistent role at left back in September and could find himself back in the starting XI on Sunday.
Miguel Almiron    M    Atlanta United
Almiron (hamstring) returned to training this week and is ready to play in Sunday's match, according to Doug Roberson of the AJC.

Fantasy Analysis

If Almiron starts, it would be an interesting fantasy wrinkle against a Toronto side that doesn't have anything to play for. If Atlanta goes for the win, look for the usual performances from Josef Martinez and Yamil Asad, with Almiron in contention, as well.
Bastian Schweinsteiger    M    Chicago Fire
As expected, Schweinsteiger (calf) labeled himself out for Sunday's match against Houston, with hopes of returning for the playoffs.

Fantasy Analysis

Schweinsteiger made a short appearance back on Oct. 1, but that's been it since early September. Since he's been in training, he should be ready for the first match of the playoffs.
Victor Cabrera    D    Montreal Impact
Cabrera will miss the regular-season finale due to yellow card accumulation, reports Joey Alfieri of TSN690.

Fantasy Analysis

While the match has little meaning, it doesn't help Montreal that it's top center back will miss out. The final lineup for the Impact is unknown at this point with some new faces likely seeing time against the Revs.
Marco Donadel    M    Montreal Impact
Donadel will miss the regular-season finale due to undisclosed reasons, reports Joey Alfieri of TSN690.

Fantasy Analysis

In a meaningless match, it's not too surprising that Donadel misses out as he's dealt with a nagging knee injury to close the season. He finished with two goals and one assist in 19 appearances for Montreal.
Kyle Fisher    D    Montreal Impact
Fisher (shin) will miss the season finale against New England, reports Joey Alfieri of TSN690.

Fantasy Analysis

Fisher had a nice run of starts in the middle of the season, but has rarely featured since July. He finished with 15 starts and 20 appearances to go with one goal and three clean sheets.
Chris Duvall    D    Montreal Impact
Duvall will miss the season finale against New England due to an ankle injury, reports Joey Alfieri of TSN690.

Fantasy Analysis

Duvall picked up the injury a couple weeks ago and it will cost him the last few matches of the season. He had a decent campaign, making 25 starts, scoring once and assisting twice to go with five clean sheets.
Maxime Chanot    D    New York City FC
Chanot will miss yet another match due to his groin injury, according to head coach Patrick Vieira.

Fantasy Analysis

It's been an injury-plagued season for Chanot as he hasn't appeared since July. At this point, it seems unlikely he'll be ready for the postseason, although his status remains unclear in that aspect.
Keegan Rosenberry    D    Philadelphia Union
Rosenberry has been suspended and will miss the last match of the season for Philly, reports Jonathan Tannenwald of the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Fantasy Analysis

It's been a rough season for Rosenberry and ends on a bad note after a untimely tweet that the organization didn't appreciate. Rosenberry finished the 2017 season with 11 starts and 14 appearances, securing two clean sheets and one assist.
Tony Beltran    D    Real Salt Lake
Beltran will miss Sunday's match against SKC due to the knee injury suffered last weekend, reports Maddie Lee of the Salt Lake Tribune.

Fantasy Analysis

This isn't too surprising for Beltran and he may end up missing the playoffs if RSL make it there. Demar Phillips will likely get the start in Beltran's place.
Bradford Jamieson IV    F    Los Angeles Galaxy
Jamieson was forced off at halftime of Sunday's match against Minnesota because of an adductor issue, according to Adam Serrano of the team's official website.

Fantasy Analysis

Jamieson came into the match with goals in each of his last two games, so the injury comes at a very unfortunate time. However, with the Galaxy far away from the playoffs, it seems likely Jamieson will not try to play in the season finale Sunday at Dallas.
Gustav Svensson    M/D    Seattle Sounders FC
Svensson was forced off in the first half of Sunday's match against Dallas because of a left hamstring injury.

Fantasy Analysis

Svensson's injury is a tough blow for the Sounders, especially so close to the start of the MLS Cup playoffs. The severity of the injury has yet to be determined, but it seems unlikely he'll play in Sunday's regular-season finale against Colorado.
Cyle Larin    F    Orlando City SC
Larin was not available for Sunday's match against Columbus because of a hip flexor issue, according to Alicia Rose DelGallo of the Orlando Sentinel.

Fantasy Analysis

Larin's absence was a hit to the Lions' attack, though with no playoff aspirations it wasn't an overly big deal. The severity of the issue hasn't been disclosed by the club, so it's unclear if Larin will be able to return for Sunday's season finale at Philadelphia.
Ignacio Piatti    M    Montreal Impact
Piatti will not play Sunday against Toronto because of a minor knee injury, but he is expected to play next Sunday against New England, according to John Molinaro of Sportsnet.

Fantasy Analysis

Piatti's absence is a major blow to the Impact's attack, though as they've already been eliminated from playoff contention, there was no reason to have him play through the issue.
Juninho    M    Chicago Fire
Juninho is nearing full recovery, but is likely to be rested ahead of the playoffs, reports Guillermo Rivera of ChicagoNow.

Fantasy Analysis

Juninho hasn't played since early September and will have a couple more weeks to rest for postseason. He closed the regular season with one goal and one assist in 20 appearances.
Cristian Higuita    M    Orlando City SC
Higuita will likely miss the rest of the season due to his calf injury, reports Alicia Rose DelGallo of the Orlando Sentinel.

Fantasy Analysis

With only two matches left, there's little reason for Higuita to play through injury. He started 18 matches this season, appearing in 26, with zero goals scored and two assists as mostly a defensive midfielder.
Tim Melia    G    Sporting Kansas City
Melia has been ruled out for at least the next two-to-four weeks because of a right hamstring injury suffered Saturday against Minnesota, the Kansas City Star reports.

Fantasy Analysis

Melia's injury comes at a very tough time for Sporting KC, as he'll miss the remainder of the regular season and likely the beginning of the playoffs. Andrew Dykstra and Adrian Zendejas will compete for starts in Melia's absence.
Boniek Garcia    M    Houston Dynamo
Garcia remains out with a knee injury and was not able to play for Costa Rica over the international break, according to Diez.

Fantasy Analysis

Garcia picked up the injury a couple weeks ago and hasn't appeared since. All signs point to him missing the SKC match on Wednesday unless he returns to training early in the week.
Thomas De Villardi    M    Minnesota United
De Villardi returned to full training this week from an Achilles rupture, but had to be carried off the pitch again with another leg injury and will likely miss the remainder of the season, reports the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

Fantasy Analysis

De Villardi has yet to play this season due to injury so this is unfortunate news for him as he continues to get injured in training.
Sam Cronin    M    Minnesota United
Cronin appeared at practice this week and is still hopeful to return this season from a concussion, but will remain out for Saturday's match against Kansas City, reports the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

Fantasy Analysis

The Loons want to get Cronin back, but with only three matches left this season, the opportunities for that to happen are waning. With zero goals and one assist, he has little fantasy impact for Minnesota.
Jefferson Savarino    F/M    Real Salt Lake
Savarino left the last match early and according to the Venezuela national team, is dealing with an ankle injury and possible knee ligament damage.

Fantasy Analysis

This clearly isn't good news for Savarino, but the injury could cost him the rest of the season and more. He's been a great piece for RSL up front and this would definitely hurt their attack.
Micheal Azira    M    Colorado Rapids
Azira left the Montreal match with an ankle injury and will likely miss the Dallas fixture on Saturday.

Fantasy Analysis

Azira was replaced by Mohammed Saied in the Montreal match, but he's been a regular starter. Colorado has been hard to trust this season, but a home match against Dallas is a decent spot for them
Michael de Leeuw    F    Chicago Fire
De Leeuw has been ruled out indefinitely after being diagnosed with a torn ACL in his left knee, the club announced Monday.

Fantasy Analysis

De Leeuw's absence will be a big blow to the Fire as the head into the postseason, and the timing of the injury makes it likely that he will miss a large portion of next season as well. Luis Solignac and Arturo Alvarez could get more playing time in de Leeuw's absence.
Brandon Vazquez    F    Atlanta United
Vazquez will miss four-to-six weeks after injuring his hamstring, reports the AJC.

Fantasy Analysis

This doesn't mean much in terms of fantasy as Vazquez has barely seen the field this season.
Greg Garza    D    Atlanta United
Garza will miss Tuesday's match against Minnesota as he deals with a leg injury, reports the AJC.

Fantasy Analysis

With a long break between matches, it's best that Garza rests up before the playoffs get underway. He could be back for the trip against the Red Bulls, but that's two weeks away. His replacement remains unclear with Tyrone Mears and Mark Bloom possible options.
Marcelo Silva    D    Real Salt Lake
Silva picked up a red card early Saturday against Los Angeles

Fantasy Analysis

Silva's foul was changed to a red card following video review. The RSL twitter feed notwithstanding, Silva was the last defender and probably deserved the card. Eventually players will learn that they are no longer going to get away with some of the grabbing and pulling they used to, but that doesn't help RSL, who really can't afford to give anything away at this point. RSL will play without Silva when they play next at Colorado on Sunday, October 15.
Gyasi Zardes    F    Los Angeles Galaxy
Zardes came off injured early Saturday against Real Salt Lake.

Fantasy Analysis

To say this has been an incredibly frustrating season for Zardes (and his fantasy owners) would be a vast understatement. Zardes came off in the first half with an apparent groin injury, interrupting the brief Zardes-as-right-back experiment that the Galaxy started. Los Angeles play at home against Minnesota on Sunday, Oct. 15.
Nick Lima    D    San Jose Earthquakes
Lima (undisclosed) left San Jose's 1-4 loss to Chicago on Wednesday with an injury in the 64th minute.

Fantasy Analysis

Lima was replaced by Vako, and the latter is expected to see an uptick on his playing time in case the former is set to miss an extended period of time.
Osvaldo Alonso    M    Seattle Sounders FC
Alonso (quad) left Wednesday's match against the Whitecaps in the 45th minute because of a right quad strain.

Fantasy Analysis

The hard-working midfielder is expected to miss between three to four weeks while recovering from the ailment. Nouhou Tolo took his place when he left the game, and he could be in line for an extended role at centerback, pushing Chad Marshall to a defensive midfielder role.
Joao Pedro    M    Los Angeles Galaxy
Joćo Pedro picked up an inury Sunday against Sporting Kansas City.

Fantasy Analysis

Joćo Pedro was replaced due to an injury in the first half. There isn't much fantasy value for Galaxy players not named Alessandrini, so the length of Joćo Pedro's absence probably does not have much fantasy impact. Los Angeles play at Houston on short rest Wednesday.
Fanendo Adi    F    Portland Timbers
Adi (hamstring) is not in the 18-man lineup Sunday against Orlando City.

Fantasy Analysis

Adi was expected to make his return Sunday, but has been kept out with the injury. He will likely make his return to the lineup Saturday against San Jose.
